Nature’s Lace

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

There is sometimes beauty in the places one least expects is. Today’s photo was one of those moments. It is the beginning of gymnastic’s season, a new level for my gymnast who has suddenly sprouted up several inches. Suddenly things aren’t quite as easy for her and she is struggling with her self confidence. She has the skills, I have seen her accomplish them. But when push comes to shove, there has been a hesitancy that I haven’t seen before.

I found that I needed to get out of the gym for a bit this afternoon. As I was walking around, feeling the frustration of a parent who sees the full potential of her child, yet not wanting to be one of those uber parents who pushes their child to the point where they whole plan backfires.

I guess it is a fine line. I just haven’t figured out how to manage it.

Cat nap

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Squirt, aka Crack House Cat loves his cat naps. Although his method of laying on or near me gets a bit annoying at moments.

But he is so darn cute it, I really can’t get too upset with him!

30/365 Carrots

Tonight the Midgelings came over to hang out for a while and to have supper with us. I had originally decided to make spaghetti, but I felt that the weather really warranted chicken noodle soup, so I made that instead. I meant to take a photo of the actual soup, but there wasn’t anything left by the end of the evening.

Wishing

Friday, January 29th, 2010

It has been one of those weeks where by the end of each day I have just enough brain function left knit something quite mindless. I found that the inspiration to snap a picture for the 365 project was a struggle and in the end I did get some photos but at the moment I am too tired get them downloaded.

So tomorrow you get at least two pictures. Content of said photos will most likely vary. At this point I am wishing that my dreams bring renewed inspiration for tomorrow.

Nothing much to say

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I’m in a spot that I don’t really have much to say, but with this 365 project going on, I figure it is just easy to at least post my daily photo.

One of my co-workers made these earrings. I must say that I am beyond impressed. They are beautifully done and were perfect for the recipient, another co-worker who is moving away.

Hiding in Plain Sight

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Things around here seem to go hiding with alarming regularity. I swear that this house has an innate tendency to eat things at will. I find that this phenomenon occurs more often if the object is really really important.

Very similar to this Christmas ornament hiding out in a basket of yarn. Things are in plain sight, yet hidden so well. I’d reflect upon this wonder and give it the honour due, but in short I am just plan too tired to put it all together. However, I suspect the way that my luck is running at the moment, I’ll be up most of the night pondering the subject as I toss, turn and curse my chronic insomnia.

Not going so well….

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I started this sweater just after the the beginning of the year, after fiddling around with actual SWATCHing, I started right in.

a slight bias

After getting through a good deal of the back, it became quite apparent that it wasn’t going quite as it should.

but pretty

Darn. I really hate it when plans don’t quite work the way one thinks they should. I’ve ripped it all the way back, gone through casting on several times because counting up to 151, nope 120, try again, 115, 117 wa a bit more complicated than one would think.

Perhaps taking a picture of the moon was a bit easier.

Monday Meanderings

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Well that was interesting. A sheep pretending to be a pachyderm.

And the cat is definitely the odd one out.

Under construction

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I got home this evening and found this in our living room.

24/365 under construction

It occurs to me that life is a journey that is under constant construction. Not just the state of my living room. I’ll just settle for the person who acquired this particular gem to remove it from the floor where I can trip over in in the middle of the night.

Before the Meet

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Today was the first meet of the gymnastics season.

Believe me this was mild compared to the rest of the room.

Road Trip

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

We are off on the first real road trip for my daughter’s gymnastics team. Real blogging may or may not take place. But here is the craptastic photo for today.

22/365 Signs of Spring

eta 23/Jan/10 I thought that I should at least add the real photo from the 22nd. Spring is trying to sneak in early around these parts.
