Wingspan Shawl

One of my recent projects has been the Wingspan Shawl.

Since this year is all about the stash busting, I dove in and found a set of Gradience Yarn from Unique Sheep, in Coffee House Reef. The pattern calls for 8 repeats, but with 8 repeats, I still have one colour left to integrate into the shawl, so I am going for broke and using up every last bit.

With that brief update out of the way, I’m diving back into work.

Leaping away from February

I just had to post today. Otherwise I would have to wait four more years to get to post on the 29th of February. Kind of a silly think I suppose, but leap year day only comes once every four years. Apparently I am easily amused.

I played soccer tonight. It was rather chilly and I started the game with wearing a hat. Shortly after that I was too warm so I ditched the hat. Then my ears were cold. Knitting to the rescue, I had a cashmere/merino cowl that I made last hear in my coat pocket. It worked great for keeping my ears warm and I am pretty sure that wearing a cashmere/merino blend cowl while playing soccer is some sort of fashion trendsetting. Not that I am a fashion trend setter by any stretch of the imagination.

I survived the game. I hope that I am still feeling that way in the morning when I attempt to walk.

The Almost Hitchhiker Scarf

It’s my Almost Hitchhicker Scarf! I ran out of yarn with two repeats remaining. So instead of 42, there are 40 repeats.

I made these snowmen last year for gifts, and this year I gave one to a co-worker to decorate her workspace. She seemed to think that the snowman needed a hat.

Flash forward to this year when Anna at MochimochiLand asked me to test knit for her Tiny Mochi’s collection 6 I started thinking that the acorn cap would make a pretty nice hat for the snowman. I think that I was right!

There. I have done it. Blogged every single day in November. I even finished a pair of socks this month, but until I find my card reader, the photo isn’t available. That particular issue has also delayed my 365 project as well. I haven’t stopped taking pictures, I just need to get them off the camera. One thing at a time I guess.

I finally settled on the yarn for my Hitchhiker Shawl. It is yarn I dyed a couple of years ago at Sock Camp. It is a bit stripy for my tastes, but since it is a gift I am just going to have to deal with it.

The octopus is from Amigurumi Knits, made from a bit of extra sock yarn and on size 0 needles.

Bunny for Nico

I have quite a few baby things to knit lately, and it is close as to whether they will be completed before the baby arrives. No guessing on this one however, since Nico is now well over a year old and probably has no use for the baby blanket that should have been finished before he arrived.

So here is Nico’s bunny. Yarn is opal sock yarn, knit on size one needles.
