I’m slipping this in at the last moment, but that is sort of how things are rolling these days. Work has been super busy, by the time I get home there just isn’t much left in the tank. I’ve started taking a walk during my lunch break, just getting out and about seems to break things up a bit. I really need to get back into the running schedule again, I find that I feel so much better when I get that little bit of exercise every day. Thankfully, there are plenty of stairs around work and most of the time I can take the stairs rather than the elevator. That helps too.

I didn’t mean to have a radio silence during the holidays. It just sort of happened. Christmas was a quiet affair here at the Weebug household, other than the 4 of us here at the house, there wasn’t much family stuff going on. That felt weird. For the first time in many years, we didn’t at least see my siblings and parents, and the family get together with the Husbeast’s side didn’t agree with my work schedule so that fell through too.

I ended up missing the family get together terribly, and I have been kind of in a funk since then. Strange how something like that will throw you off.

Back to meandering. It’s a time to be thankful, but there are days where I just don’t feel that way. So how do I take a step back and evaluate, to find something, anything to appreciate in it’s fullest. I am reminded of something that I heard in the sermon yesterday. Find one thing, no matter how small. Hold it in your heart and whisper thankfulness. Concentrate on that one small thing and let it be your thankful for the day.

My thankful moment for the day was small. I found a moment to blog.

This morning’s meanderings are another mixed bag. This weekend was Easter and for a change of pace, the girls hid eggs for us after they finished their egg hunt. I hadn’t been on an Easter egg hunt for years. They did a great job of hiding the eggs and Husbeast and I had a blast searching for the elusive eggs. Another family tradition has been created!

dust bunnies

With Easter comes bunnies and I had a lovely time creating these little guys. The pattern is Tiny Baby Bunnies, by Anna over at MochoMochi Land. I don’t know how she manages to create so many different little things, but they are perfect for using odds and ends of yarn.

blue sky

Saturday was beautiful. I think that Seattle has some of the best blue skies when the clouds are away. I went for a long walk and enjoyed every minute of it!

Finally, sock blanket three is officially finished. For this blanket I used balls with greater yardage to create the rectangles. It definitely creates a different look, but I am not sure that I would do it again. Shann loves it and I think that it was quite appropriate that it was finished on her half birthday.

sock blanket three

Believe it or not, it was the only picture I managed to capture yesterday as I completely forgot to grab my camera for the egg hunt. That makes me sad, as some of the hiding places were truly remarkable.

Today’s post is a bit of a mixed bag. I went down to Washougal over the weekend to celebrate my father’s 88th birthday. The time spent was a whirlwind of things that needed to be accomplished and family time. I managed to fit some me time into the mix and the result was a great weekend.

106/365 Father and Son

Saturday morning I particpated in the MS walk in Vancouver, WA with my dear friend Betsy and her family. I took many photos, but this one spoke of the communty of giving. It was a lovely walk, starting at the historic Fort Vancouver site, going over highway 14 and the railroad tracks via an awesome pedestrian overpass, then walking along the Columbia River for awhile before turning back and retracing our steps. Our team, Annie’s Army had loads of fun supporting our friend and family member Annie in her journey with this awful disease. I love her sense of humour, her strength and the inner light that she shares with her friends and family. It is a rough journey, but I am honoured to be a part of it and to have helped in this very small way.

107/365 Magnolia Blossom

My folks have this huge Magnolia in their front yard. This bloom is fading, unfurled to see the beauty inside. Kind of like people, we lose the youthful beauty, mature and grow. Then we fade, revealing the inner strength and beauty of the soul, each wrinkle telling a different story. I needed this reminder, as I am at that stage in live where the wrinkles and age start to creep about, and the image in the mirror isn’t the age that I perceive myself.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Papa! I hope you enjoyed having your girls home for the weekend. I know that I, as always, enjoyed just spending time with you!

I feel a bit contemplative today, having undergone yet another procedure in my reconstruction process. As I lie on my couch, feeling rather loopy from the pain medication and post anesthesia process, I feel rather slothful because I haven’t had the brain power to really get much of anything done. I have to remind myself that it is okay to take a break every once and a while, that the last time I attempted knitting while “under the influence”, I ended up having to rip all of my “progress” out. Believe me, the results were not at all pretty.

So I am lying here. not doing much beyond playing silly computer games and watching season two of the X-files. hoping that tomorrow will be a bit more pain free and productive.

Christmas seemed short and sweet this year. We spent Christmas Eve home as a family, had a simple supper of home made chicken noodle soup and watched White Christmas together. When the kids were little, we started a tradition of new pajamas on Christmas Eve. Every year we have this little dance. I ask the girls if they still want pajamas at Christmas. They look at me as if I have lost my mind and roll their eyes. And so the tradition continues.

We crammed as much family visiting time into Saturday and Sunday as we could and before anything could be done about it Monday morning rolled around. Which was a shame, because the weekend seemed way too short.

With two dogs, a couple of cats and the kids, things tend to get rather banged up around here.

It doesn’t look especially pretty, but at least we are colour coordinated around here.

I just realized that I forgot to title yesterday’s post. I guess it was better to do that than to forget to post. In fact there are days that I forget if I am coming or going.

Tonight we spent a bit of time going over family genealogy. Thanks to the efforts of Papa’s sister Vera and my own mother, it is pretty well mapped out for many generations. It is interesting to peruse the documents, seeing the years that each generation spanned, the names that were used and how many children were born.

However, I found it somewhat lacking in other types of information. Where did they live? When did they get married, what was their occupation? When did they arrive in the United States. Unfortunately, all I can do is ponder, because except for a few accounts, the information isn’t really there. Perhaps that is for this generation to discover.

It seems that we are getting a bit of inclement weather. This always poses a problem here in Seattle, because no one knows how to actually drive in the stuff. Heck, we even seem to have a bit of difficulty in the transition between dry and wet pavement, so I don’t know why I would have even the remotest expecation that we could handle a bit of snow and ice.

Knitters know how to deal with the cold. Any excuse to break out the needles and knit another hat is fine by me and I finished up Rose Red yesterday at the beach, just in time for winter! The yarn is the Intention Yarn Friendship. It is a merino, alpaca and silk blend, totally wonderful for knitting and keeping my head warm!
