I am planning a trip this fall. I have always wanted to attend Rhinebeck. So this year I am going to make it happen. I am so excited!

We have a cat who is kind of clueless when he gets outdoors. He tends to get a bit lost and can’t find his way home again, so generally we try and keep him indoors.

Today he got out and was meandering around outside. He is Fiona’s cat. Can someone please explain why I was the one who had to rescue this poor feline while my daughter could only ask “What do we do now? Should we knock on the neighbors door and ask if we can get him?”

Maybe I’m a bad neighbor. I just went over there and hauled the cat back home.

Miles of Garter Stitch

I am at the stage on this blanket that where it is feeling like each row is a mile long. The good thing is that the project isn’t languishing in the forgotten work in progress pile.

The down side is that each row still feels like a mile. With any luck, it will actually get finished before the baby grows up.

School Year’s End

We have developed an end of the school year tradition over the years. The annual bonfire at Golden Gardens. Earlier in the week the forecast was for questionable weather conditions.

Well darn

I managed to mess up the password to one of my accounts in a misguided attempt to fix it. I hate days like that. I am way too tired at the moment to try and figure it out, I am hoping that things will settle down enough this weekend to get things straightened out.

What can I say? It has been a long week.

Fondness

As a child I had a fondness for climbing trees. I spent many an hour in my youth, sitting in the crook of the branches of the gnarled Gravenstein tree down the hill. Upon one occasion, as I went running pell-mell down the hill, it was adventagous in the release of one of my baby teeth. As I recall I misjudge a branch and whacked myself in the mouth with one of the branches.

My siblings and I created ships and forts and imaginary realms in that old tree and I was very sad the day that it needed to come down and be chopped into firewood.

This evening Fiona and I walked down to one of the local parks. She wanted to shoot off the rest of a roll of film and climbed up the tree to take a shot. I figured what the heck, and followed her up into the welcoming branches.

It was wonderful. I haven’t had the opportunity to climb a tree in more years than I care to think about. I have a mind to take a book down there next weekend and revisit my childhood.
