linen stitch scarf in Unique Sheep

I’ve been doing a lot of linen stitch lately. It started out with a few random balls of Koigu. Several scarves later, I am still mesmerized. There is something about the rhythm that is calming to my inner being. That is something I need but rarely find. So for now I’ll take my calm with a side of linen stitch please.

May Day

I seem to be incapable of sustaining any type of rythmn with my blogging these days. I’m sorry. Work has been challenging, with all sorts of deadlines and new things to learn. All while trying to maintain the current operating system until go live. By the time I get home there just isn’t a whole lot left in the tank.

I have been knitting however, lots of linen stitch scarves, hoping to make a dent in the stash that has accumulated over the years. The dent doesn’t seem to have made much of a difference, but at least I can say that I am working toward it.

And I’ve been running. I completed my first 5k race over the weekend. The time wasn’t anything to write home about, but I finished without walking. And I am proud of that accomplishment. Fiona ran it too, leaving me in the dust. It was her first 5K and I couldn’t be prouder.

A Spring Apron

Occasionally I get out the sewing machine. Saturday I whipped up an apron for one of my nieces. I am quite pleased with the results as I haven’t really sewn anything for years. I still don’t love it like I love knitting, but it is nice to know that I can still accomplish something.

My niece loved the apron and I found myself wondering why I had not thought to make them before now. Honestly it hadn’t occurred to me.

April Showers

April showers bring May flowers, but here in the Pacific Northwest, they also bring rainbows. That is if don’t mind getting a little damp in the process.

Rainbow over Greenlake

I have been slowly beginning to run again and that means having to brave the elements. If I waited for sunny days I would rarely have the opportunity to get outdoors. Yeah, I could go to the gym, but I really am an outdoorsy type of gal and running on the treadmill is just plain boring. Of course your mileage may vary on that perspective.

Wingspan Shawl

One of my recent projects has been the Wingspan Shawl.

Since this year is all about the stash busting, I dove in and found a set of Gradience Yarn from Unique Sheep, in Coffee House Reef. The pattern calls for 8 repeats, but with 8 repeats, I still have one colour left to integrate into the shawl, so I am going for broke and using up every last bit.

With that brief update out of the way, I’m diving back into work.

Yes, I’m still alive.
