I made it through November
The daylight hours dwindling
Thanksgiving has come. And gone
The leftovers still lingering.

Go figure. Yesterday I was in love with all of my knitting projects. Today I swear that they all hate me. Today wasn’t any longer than any other day there was still only 24 hours in it, but I swear that it has been twice that long.

Almost through with November. I’m not quite sure where it went but it’s gone.

But I’ve started the hitchhiker’s scarf. I wonder how quickly I can crank them out before Christmas?

Happy Birthday to my brother! We celebrated yesterday with a get together over at his place, with turkey soup and assorted other leftovers from Thursday. Low key, fun and family time together is always the best way to celebrate any occasion and so we did.

Today I spent the afternoon with Ariel at one of the many coffee shops around here.
While we chatted, I finished the socks from yesterday and started the Hitchhiker Shawl. It was a perfect way to spend a very rainy Sunday afternoon.

Shhh. Don’t tell anyone but there has been a lot of knitting going on around here. The pair of socks that I started last summer that had been languishing in time out since August were finished today except for kitchnering the toes. The test knit socks that I started a couple of weeks ago are out of time out thanks to a friend who saved my tush when one of the balls of yarn went a missing. I might just get another finished project out of this weekend.

Now that would be a very good thing. Almost better than turkey noodle soup.

I feel particularly uninspired today. In fact it has taken me five minutes of staring at the computer screen to get this much written. I suppose in the grand scheme of things, it happens.

I have however, picked up a pair of socks that have been languishing for quite a while. The tangled mess in which I abandoned them has been untangled and I am on the home stretch. I am waiting for some yarn to finish another pair of socks for a test knit, so I hope that soon I will have both pairs of socks finished.

I need to download photos off my camera and get caught up on that project as well. If there were only enough hours in the day to get everything done.

The turkey has been roasted, vegetables put in serving bowls, wild rice dressing prepared and baked. So, I cheated on the pumpkin pie and bought it from Costco, but the rest of the meal I made by myself. And it was very good. How people actually get it so things are all done at the same time I haven’t a clue, but even though by the time it was all served up and on the table, I really didn’t care. I was hungry.

It was a quiet affair this year, just the four of us and that was fine by me. Holidays come in all shapes and sizes, and this year it was just small. I am thankful for my family and that we had the opportunity to just spend some time together.

So now the plates have been cleaned and the leftovers put away. Time for a quiet evening with the family and the critters. Not a bad way to spend a holiday.

The turkey is brining, and I have my personal list of things to be done tomorrow. But for now I am going to squeeze a few more rows of knitting in and call it today. If I didn’t know myself any better, I would almost think that I was a tad bit organized. Now that is a scary thought!
