Lest one thinks that all I have been doing is knitting on sock blankets, I did take some time to knit something just for me:
The above was right before I put the border on and I did not like the look of that final brownish square one bit. For starters it kind of ended up on the wrong side of things. I could have left it a design feature, but the more I thought about it, the less I was happy with the results.
So off it went to the frog pond and I like this result much better!

And here you go! I loved wearing it with this sweater the other day when it was really cold in the office, but I really love wearing it with my old jean jacket. I had originally planned on making myself a scarf since I was always stealing borrowing the ones that I made my girls, but then I thought about how much I really dislike the bulkiness of the ends underneath my jacket and how much fussing it created.
The end result is that it works the way that I wanted it to. It was a great use for odds and ends of sock yarn, it’s something for me and although there are things about it that could be changed, it is whimsically beautiful.
