A bit Skewed.

First things first, I was quite taken with the Skew sock from the winter Knitty.

53/365 Skew sock

Pretty huh? It is one of those patterns that are quite compulsive, I keep wanting to knit a bit more to see what will happen next.

Hatheel Socks

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Life is finding my running around like a squirrel these days, trying to stay one step ahead of myself and at the same time attempting to remember where I buried the bits and bobs of every day life.  I did manage to finish a pair of socks after several aborted attempts and here are the results:

I find it very difficult to photgraph one’s own foot, but here are the specifics on the Hatheel socks.

Yarn:  Opal.  No ball band to be found, so I can’t be specific on the color

Needles:  2.25 Harmony dpn’s

size:  Large

Notes:  I found it worked better for me to have knit the cuff first, then do the foot.  Doing it the other way around resulted in having to frog the toe and re-knit.  I won’t go into how many times I had to reknit it in order to acheive the correct fit, but suffice it to say it was numerous.  I used a 3×1 rib for the cuff.

Thoughts:  They were kind of fiddly, but rather fun to knit, and they fit my foot rather comfortably.  I might have to try again, or at least rescue the first pair that I started.

Just basic socks

Despite my best efforts, some knitting has been accomplished!

Granted, it wasn’t a really exciting project, but the socks have been finished, ends woven in and they have been put away for gifting.

Specifics:

Yarn:  Opal

Needles:  2.25 mm

Stitches:  76

Pattern:  2×2 rib for an inch or so, then a 5×1 rib for the remainder of the sock.
